Kobby Rankz, born Frederick Mawuko, comes out of Ghana’s rich music scene. He was born on January 9, 2001, in Weta in the Volta Region, and raised in Ashaiman. He began pursuing music professionally in 2016, steadily building his craft and carving out his own lane. He’s a versatile artist with a sound that cuts across reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeat. His music carries a strong Caribbean influence while staying rooted in African rhythm and culture. That mix gives his songs both emotional depth and a natural pull to the dance floor.
His growing presence earned him a shoutout from Stonebwoy on GHOne TV, naming him one of Ghana’s dancehall artists to look out for during an interview with Serwaa Amihere. In 2021, he freestyled alongside Grammy-winning Jamaican icon Beenie Man at Stonebwoy’s 5th Bhim Concert in Accra. He later performed with Stonebwoy at the 2024 SPSG Our Day Night event at GIMPA, reinforcing his live performance pedigree. Since then, Kobby Rankz has been steadily building his craft and carving out his own lane.
