Debwoy Afriqa

Music as a medium has been and remains a comfortable go-to for Ghanaian based rapper and singer Debwoy Afriqa who wields a passion for telling stories, entertaining people and expressing himself. Born Emmanuel Yaw Amissah I Debwoy hails from Awkatia in the Eastern region of Ghana but currently resides at Kpone where he had his basic education. He furthered his education in the Arts at Ashaiman Senior High School, where he steadily toyed with making music by frequenting any studio within reach. Stemming from an early-age passion for creating music and his love for studio life, Debwoy who started recording as far back as 2012, began his professional career in 2018 after signing with Shydem Entertainment and QMIX productions. Under these label, he released his debut single 1Me and You• in his signing year in 2018 and has since released Who Born You, Warm Up, Ohia and his latest release Dangote which have collectively garnered a reasonable traction among his growing audience and the Ghanaian media space. Debwoy creates music whenever he wills and from whatever viable idea that comes to mind. This comes from spending long hours in the studio where he feeds off vibes from fellow •studio Rats• and many a times, on instrumentations blasting from studio speakers. Just like several other Ghanaian artistes, Debwoy Afriqa has big dreams but believes in incremental steps and akin to striking guitar chords one at a time, eventually, he believes things will piece together beautifully. His ambitions are to widen his influence, broaden his audience and share his creativity with the world one listener at a time. Debwoy is currently on his journey to making his first ever album, and he, together with his labels Shydem/Qmix Productions are travelling down this road with all earnestness and rigor just to arrive at a well packaged finished product.
